Dig - Dig
We revisit the debut 1993 album by Dig with lead singer and guitarist Scott Hackwith
Thanks to an old friend of the show Chip Midnight, when patron Dewey Cole suggested revisiting the 1993 self-titled debut album from Dig, Chip reached out to lead singer and guitarist Scott Hackwith to have him join us to revisit this record. Dewey only came to record recently, so he provides a unique perspective of discovering an album seventeen years after its release. Chip interviewed Scott when the band was just starting out, gigging around the country with frequent stops in Ohio in the early-to-mid 1990s. Scott, who started out as a guitarist in T.S.O.L., learned to be a producer on the spot making the debut album, which led him to work on records by the Ramones, Spiritualized and other, shares stories and insights on album artwork, demo'ing tracks on a four-track machine, making music videos, and working on new Dig music. Special guests: Dewey Cole - DMO UNION, Chip Midnight - music journalist, Scott Hackwith - vocals & guitar, Dig

Our May listener suggestion poll is about to close. Looks like The Smoking Popes are about to pull this one out and get a podcast episode.
Smoking popes are such an amazing band. My wife and I’s first dance at our wedding is a smoking popes song (I know you love me) - Andrew OC
Going with Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, I remember them getting played loads by John Peel back in the early to mid nineties and always really enjoying their psychedelic folk sound. Plus, as already mentioned, it should be entertaining to hear Tim's pronunciation attempts with this one. - Mike Bond
While I love the Smoking Popes, The Hardship Post need to get some attention. Great Canadian band with excellent catchy songs. They likely won't win, but please give them a listen. - David Haverland
this was down to the Smoking Popes, Hardship Post, and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. In the end I went with Gorky because, sonically, the album just grabbed my attention. It may slow down just a bit in the middle but at 15 songs in under 40 minutes, there is plenty to enjoy. Plus, the albums title track was covered by Of Montreal and has a bit of nostalgia for me. I would like to see Hardship Post covered in another episode though. - Thomas Crymes
Since I live in wales I should vote for Gorky's zygotic Mynci but I'm going for the Hardship post... I had never heard of them before so its was another pleasant surprise brought to me by dig me out!!! thanks to dig me out I have discovered more Canadian bands that I really like now. - Richard Waterman
