It’s our fourth annual "giving thanks" episode on "Dig Me Out." It's been another fantastic year for music in 2023, and we've got a lot to be grateful for – from the classic artists we've loved for decades to the fresh faces shaking up our playlists.
This year, we're celebrating an incredible mix of bands and artists, both new and old, that have made 2023 a standout year for music. We've seen some amazing late-career records from artists spanning the 1980s, 90s, and 00s. Let's discuss Slowdive, The Hives, and Louise Post from Veruca Salt, who've kept the magic strong. Depeche Mode, Drop Nineteens, Samiam, and Gaz Coombes of Supergrass blew us away with their latest offerings, proving they still have it. And let's not forget about Madder Rose, Juliana Hatfield, The Hold Steady, Brad, Ash, OMD, Allen Epley of Shiner and The Life And Times, The Church, PJ Harvey, Blur, and DJ Shadow – each bringing something unique to the table with their new albums.
We've also been thrilled to discover new bands like Crown Lands, Spotlights, Houston, and Vast Robot Armies, adding a fresh flavor to our musical diet. These new artists landed on our radar with a bang, showing us that the future of music is as bright as ever.
And, oh boy, did we spend a good chunk of time dissecting Andre 3000's latest release, "New Blue Sun." We went deep on that one, folks, and let's just say it sparked quite the conversation.
