Headstones - Picture of Health
The debut album Picture of Health by Headstones makes us wonder why aren't there more straight-up rock bands like AC/DC or The Angels
Describing rock bands can be tricky, as there is usually a need for comparison to set expectations. In the cast of Headstones, it's not that simple. The band is heavy, but not metal. They rock in a way that fits into the 90s, but they're not grunge or alternative. Smart lyrics, big guitar riffs, and short catchy songs that have hints of Australian bands like AC/DC or The Angels, with a touch of Guns 'n Roses and even a ballad or two. On their 1993 debut Picture of Health, all the ingredients for a smash hit debut are there, and while the band is beloved in Canada, they didn't make a ripple outside their home country.

Group 2 Suggestions
Poster Children - RTFM
Really good rock record and more accessible than their other albums. My favourite album of theirs. Great production and sounds like a band playing together in a room. Richard Waterman
The Hives - Barely Legal
The Hives' first album. Not their best but still a very energetic and fun listen. Willie Dillon
Various Artists - Short Music For Short People
it is 101 songs from 101 bands.. each is under 30 seconds.. what can go wrong? Eric Peterson
Rancid - and out come the wolves
The bay city punk-rockers 3rd album introduced a whole new generation of kids to punk, ska and the clash. The social and political statements and stories of folks on hard times still hold up. Darren Leeman
The Elevator Drops - People Mover
Adam Smith
Riccardo: Farside - The Monroe Doctrine
90s punk rock tinged with hardcore and emocore, a staple in the Revelation Records catalog. Really good production and musical craftsmanship. One of my personal favourite album from one of my favourite band, never saw them live (too young and living in another continent). Even the older albums are worth checking out.
Tumbleweed - Galactaphonic
Tumbleweed are an Australian band that supported Nirvana on there only Australia tour at one point they were quite big in Australia and still have quite a cult following (band is active again), they have quite a unique sound that although you can hear influences of other bands from 60s to 90s, they still sound like no other band I have heard. Michael Waser
Catchers - Mute
It's a brilliant album from this Irish band, with shades of early REM overall sound...and wonderfully entwined soaring male/female vocals. Unlike the slicker follow-up, the debut has just enough rough edges to make for a much more interesting listen.the record has major staying power (especially in France) and was recently remastered in 24 bit for tremendous sound. Scott Muhlbaier
Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit!
Raw debut album by Chicago pop punk/emo band that would go on to be a staple of the 2000s with their dark & catchy songs about heartbreak, addiction, & growing up. This album really sets the tone for their style which they would perfect on later releases. Co frontman Matt Skiba is currently in Blink 182 taking over for Tom a few years back. Paul DeVos
